Danny Masterton

All at Clyde FC are extremely saddened to learn of the untimely passing of former player, Danny Masterton.

Danny joined Clyde from Ayr United in August 1980, scoring twice in his debut against East Fife at Shawfield. Scoring goals was what ‘Big Danny’ – as he was affectionally known – did best. To that end, he topped the Shawfield scoring charts for the first three of the four seasons he was with Clyde.

Danny visited Broadwood as recently as last year. Like so many former footballers belying the on-field image, he was described as an absolute gentleman, modest and quiet.

Across his four seasons with The Bully Wee, Danny scored 76 goals; a total that places him 11th in Clyde’s all-time scoring chart and ensures that he is fondly remembered by all supporters who watched him play in the white jersey.

The club’s thoughts are with Danny’s family and friends at this difficult time.
