Gregg Happy to be at Clyde

New signing Gregg Wylde spoke to the press following Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Stranraer at Broadwood.

The winger was introduced to the action in the second half and spoke about making his debut for The Bully Wee:-

“It was good to get back out onto the pitch – it’s been a long time. Danny’s given me the opportunity to come in until the end of the season, play games and help the team out.

“The boys dug deep in the second half and we could have won it in the end.

“I need more minutes in the legs and it was good to get 25 minutes or so. It was good to get back out there, it’s been a long time since I played in a competitive match. I’ll keep getting myself fitter and hoping that the games come.”

The 28-year-old’s signature was confirmed on Saturday morning, after a spell training with the Clyde squad, and he talked about how the move came about:-

“I worked with Danny at St. Mirren and he contacted me after I left Livingston. I had a few other options with teams in the league above and below, but I’ve worked with Danny and Allan before and I think it’s the best club for me. I’m only five minutes down the road from Broadwood, in Kirkintilloch. I’m happy to be here and hopefully I can kick on.”

On hat-trick scorer David Goodwillie, Gregg revealed that, despite having been at the same clubs earlier in their careers, they hadn’t shared a dressing room until now:-

“I just missed playing with David at both Aberdeen and Plymouth, but you can see that he is out of this world in this league. He’s a goalscorer and that’s what teams need.”

Gregg concluded by mentioning that his father, Gordon had supported his decision to join Clyde:-

“My dad played and coached at the club and I spoke to him about the move and he thought it was the best option for me as well. It’s a great club and the board and staff have been really helpful with me, I can’t ask for any more.”
