Clyde 3-1 Stirling Albion
The Bully Wee got back to winning ways this afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Stirling Albion at Broadwood.
Danny Lennon made two changes to his side, with full-backs Barry Cuddihy and Jordan Stewart returning to replace Kieran Duffie and Dylan Cogill.
The opening goal came in the 18th minute, when a Clyde corner was only cleared as far as Chris McStay on the edge of the box. The midfielder hit a shot which took a deflection and spun past ‘keeper Calum Ferrie.
Ex-Clyde striker Peter MacDonald had a chance to level the scores when he took advantage of some confusion in the home defence, but Martin McNiff got back to block the goalbound shot.
Ronan Hughes then saw his dipping effort from distance clip the top of the crossbar, and at the other end Ferrie stretched to save Ray Grant’s effort from going in the top corner.
MacDonald had another opportunity just before the interval after spotting Blair Currie off his line, but his lob bounced just past the post.
Stirling Albion equalised six minutes after the restart, when Dom Docherty sent a dangerous cross into the box, and Kyle Banner was on hand to place a header past Currie.
The Bully Wee almost retook the lead immediately when Ally Love was played through on goal, but he hit his shot straight at Ferrie.
Kristoffer Syvertsen was thrown on by Danny Lennon and the Norwegian forward was next to try his luck with a close range shot which was blocked on the line by a visiting defender.
Ferrie made another couple of good stops to frustrate David Goodwillie, but Clyde restored their advantage with ten minutes remaining. John Rankin’s corner found Martin McNiff, who powered a header into the ground and over the head of Ferrie.
Stirling Albion were dealt another blow shortly after when Danny Jardine was stretchered off following a lengthy stoppage, and had to play the remainder of the game with ten men having used all their substitutes.
Clyde put the match beyond doubt in the eighth minute of injury time when Syvertsen played in Rankin, who slotted the ball past Ferrie.
