Alan Swan

All connected with the club were extremely saddened to learn of the death of former player Alan Swan.

Alan joined Clyde from Shettleston Juniors on the last day of 1969, and made his first team debut a month later. He was converted from centre-forward to left-back under manager Archie Robertson’s guidance and it was in that position that he established himself as a first-team regular for over six seasons.

Alan played an integral part in The Bully Wee’s 1972-73 Second Division Championship triumph and he was featured in the recently published book ‘From Tears to Cheers’, which covers that successful season.

Following his time at Clyde, Alan moved to South Africa and continued his professional career with top tier Johannesburg side Highlands Park.

The club’s thoughts and condolences are with Jo, Jackie, Leigh, Andrew and all of Alan’s family and friends at this sad time.

A full tribute to Alan will be published in the Clyde View, in the Albion Rovers edition on 16th February.
