PREVIEW: Clyde v Albion Rovers

Following a break for International football, the Ladbrokes League 2 action begins again tomorrow, with Albion Rovers visiting Broadwood.

The Bully Wee are looking to build on a fine away win at Annan Athletic, with the Wee Rovers still searching for their first points of the campaign.

For Clyde, Ross Lyon and Karim Belmokhtar have a chance to make their home debut after officially joining the club last week.

Jordan Stewart and Tom Lang could also both feature in the squad, as they recover from shorter and longer term injuries respectively.

Goalkeeper Kieran Hughes, however, faces a spell on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. Michael McGee – an 18-year-old ‘keeper formerly of Airdrie who recently joined the club on an amateur basis – has been recalled from a loan at Bathgate Thistle and will take a slot on the bench.

Speaking to the official website this evening, Danny Lennon said:-

“Jordan has returned to training this week and thankfully has had no negative reaction, but he has missed two matches and it’s important that he looks after himself now. Tom is doing fantastically well and the medical team are really pleased with him. He’s not far off being ready now and he’s pushing really hard to be involved again in the coming weeks.

“It’s a real shame for Kieran to have picked up the injury, which is tissue damage. He’s fitted in really quickly with the group and has formed a great relationship with Blair (Currie). We look forward to him returning, but in the meantime we know that young Michael can step in if required.”

On the match and recent form, the Clyde boss continued:-

“We saw in our last home match against Edinburgh that we forgot to play our football and we were punished for it. It’s important that we match the intensity of our opponent and not get sucked into the way they want the game to go.

“We got a great reaction at Annan and we’ve now got to maintain that, but also make sure that we convert more of our chances.

“Albion are having a difficult time at the moment but we know how quickly things can change in football, so we certainly aren’t taking them lightly at all. The players will get a reminder that we need to be at our best every week to get the results that we want.

“We’ve got to make Broadwood a fortress and make it a huge challenge for teams to take anything away. We’ve got an opportunity over the next two weeks to do that. The fans play a huge role in that and, as I mentioned at the Q&A event last week, that becomes even more important when things aren’t going our way. It really is noticed by the players and makes a big difference.”

Admission Prices: Season tickets and Arria Silver memberships are eligible. Entry prices are; adults £14, concessions £9, Under-12s FREE (when accompanied by an adult). Free under-12 tickets should be collected from the Clyde Office before entering via the turnstiles. The office is situated in the pod at the south end of the Main Stand.

Entry: Turnstiles D, E and F will be open, all as ‘cashless’ entry points for contactless credit or debit cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay will also be accepted. Home or away fans unable to use this facility should go to the ticket window (adjacent to turnstile C), where adult and concession tickets can be purchased for cash.

Visiting Supporters: Fans of Albion will be directed to the designated away section at the South end of the stand.

Car Parking: Access to the Main Stand car park will be restricted to those with accreditation; players, staff and officials, visiting directors, Silver Arria members, hospitality guests and those with disability parking badges. All other vehicles will be directed to the West Stand car park.

Club Shop: Situated between turnstiles B and C, the club shop will be open from 2-3pm and 4.45-5.15pm for the sale of home replica tops, polo shirts, t-shirts, scarves, hats, scarves and a selection of other items.

Arria Lounge: Open from 1-2.45pm and 4.45-6pm. Entry as follows:-

  • Season ticket holders (adults & concessions) – vouchers will be taken at main reception
  • Club owners without a season ticket – Pay cash at the ticket window for match admission then enter through main reception where ticket will be taken. Name checks will take place.
  • Other guests – Pay for match admission as above. Guests must be signed in by a season ticket holder or club owner.

Smoking Area: Open at half-time only, in the designated area at the North end of the Main Stand (South end for away fans).

The Clyde View: Issue 5 of the club’s 68-page matchday programme will be on sale, priced at £3.

Teamsheets: Available from the Club Shop approximately 30 minutes before kick-off and charged at 20p per copy.

Lottery: Clyde FC Lottery tickets will be on sale in the Arria Lounge and the kiosk area, for Wednesday’s draw with a jackpot of £20,000.

200 Fund: Draw 3, for a prize fund of £1,045, will take place on the pitch at half-time and the winner will be announced immediately.
