PREVIEW: Queen of the South v Clyde

The second round of matches in the group stage of the Betfred Cup takes place tomorrow night, with The Bully Wee travelling to Dumfries to take on Queen of the South.

It’s the first meeting of the two clubs in nearly ten years, as The Doonhamers prepare for their sixth successive season at Championship level.

For Clyde, Ally Love returns from a suspension and Danny Lennon had no fresh injury worries to report following the draw with Edinburgh City.

Speaking to the official website this evening, the Clyde manager said:-

“The Betfred Cup is giving us plenty of minutes on the pitch in a short period, as we aim to hit our peak for 4th August. Having said that, we want to do well in every competition or match we play in, individually and for everyone associated with the club.

“We have the utmost respect for Queen of the South, but we are going there tomorrow to play our own game and pick up points. It’ll be a different type of challenge to Saturday but that’s not a bad thing at this stage of the summer and the players are looking forward to it.

“It was great to see so many of our supporters at Broadwood on Saturday, especially given that it’s the holiday period. I wish a safe journey to all those that are going to Palmerston tomorrow.”

Also in Group G tomorrow, Motherwell play their first match as they host Edinburgh City at Fir Park.

Admission prices at Palmerston have been set at £12 for adults and £6 for concessions. As a reminder, in the event of a draw after 90 minutes, penalty kicks will decide which team earns an additional bonus point.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm
