PREVIEW: Clyde v Motherwell
The final matches in Group G of the Betfred Cup take place tomorrow, with Clyde hosting Motherwell at Broadwood in a match that is also being shown live on BT Sport.
The Well need a win to guarantee top spot in the section and qualification to the knock-out stages, with The Bully Wee realistically aiming for a third place finish. Edinburgh City and Stranraer can also get into third – both clubs are two points behind and face each other at Ainslie Park.
For Clyde, Jordan Stewart is suspended after picking up an unfortunate yellow card in Tuesday night’s win at Stranraer.
Speaking to the official website this evening, Danny Lennon was excited about the prospect of facing a Premiership side and to a wider television audience:-
“We’re all really looking forward to the match. In football you always want to test yourself against the best and tomorrow we get the chance to do that, against a top flight side who reached both cup finals last season.
“The players are looking forward to the challenge and the incentive is there for them to show what they can do.
“It’s important to build on Tuesday, when we got an A1 performance. We’ve recovered as best as we can following that game and we took it into account during last night’s training session. We’re ready to put in a positive performance and we want to finish as high as we can in group, which we know helps the club.”
