Inaugural Brian McCammick Cup

The 2018 Fans v Fans match, now known as the Brian McCammick Cup, took place at Broadwood on Sunday.

The popular social and fundraising event will continue to be held annually, henceforth in memory of Brian, who sadly passed away last year.

Danny Lennon and Allan Moore, who each managed a team on the day, opened the event in the dressing room with a unique insight into how the Clyde first team prepares for matches.

Following the warm-ups, the action on the pitch commenced and an excellent and well-spirited match took place. The final score was 4-4, with Allan’s ‘Gypsy Army’ team eventually winning on penalties.

Andy Murray got all of Gypsy Army’s goals, with David Dishon, Graham Forrest (2) and Dean McKirdy scoring for the ‘Bully Wee’ side.

The trophy was presented by the McCammick family, including Brian’s son Ross (pictured with Danny Lennon) who earlier made a substitute appearance on the pitch and played very well.

The day was ended with a gathering in the Arria Lounge. Man of the Match presentations were made to Andy Murray and Matt Pirie, before some fond memories of Brian were shared by Richie Duncan.

Danny and Allan also received a warm vote of thanks for their superb contribution throughout.

The club would like to thank all participants and those involved in running the event – David Alexander (event organiser), Sean Hart (referee), Lynn Calder (kit), John Anderson (PA) and, of course, the McCammick family for their part in a special day.
