Peterhead 3-0 Clyde

Clyde’s unbeaten run came to an end at Peterhead today, as The Blue Toon recorded a convincing win in Ladbrokes League 2.

Danny Lennon made one change to the starting line-up following the win at Cowdenbeath, with club captain Kevin Nicoll coming in for Ray Grant.

The home side got off to a flyer after just four minutes. A corner led to Chris McStay clearing the ball off the line, but Russell McLean was in the right place to thump the rebound into the net and make it 1-0.

Clyde’s efforts to get back on level terms before half-time only really produced some half chances; a free-kick by Jordan Stewart, a volley by Barry Cuddihy that was blocked and a scramble in the box which was eventually cleared away by the Peterhead defence.

The Bully Wee made two changes at the break, with Grant and Love coming on for Nicoll and Cuddihy.

With around an hour played, a long pass by Kyle Gourlay released David Goodwillie on the left wing and his cross almost found Love in the box, but it just missed him and the ball went out for a goal kick.

Not long after that, the referee awarded Peterhead a penalty after minimal contact between Stewart and Stevenson and McLean scored from the spot for his and his team’s second goal.

McLean almost got a hat-trick before the was replaced by Rory McAllister and the experienced striker completed the victory with a deflected shot on 79 minutes.
