Cowdenbeath 0-3 Clyde
The Bully Wee moved into the Ladbrokes League 2 play-off places this evening following a 3-0 victory over Cowdenbeath at Central Park.
There was just one change to the side that defeated Montrose on Saturday, with Kyle Gourlay replacing Blair Currie in goals.
Cowdenbeath started the match well, but Clyde took an early lead following a fine move. Goodwillie and Cuddihy combined to release Jordan Stewart on the left wing and his low cross eventually reached Chris McStay, who finished well from around 12 yards.
Jack Boyle then came close to doubling the lead when he made a nice turn at the edge of the box, but his curling shot went just wide of the far post.
However, the Blue Brazil came back into the match and Blair Malcolm found some room in the box, but Kyle Gourlay did well to come off his line and prevent a goal. The home side also had the ball in the net just before half-time, but the referee blew his whistle for a foul on Gourlay.
Early in the second half, Martin McNiff put a glancing header wide but it wasn’t long until the important second goal arrived for The Bully Wee. A clever one two between Goodwillie and Lamont led to the forward going through on goal and he made no mistake to record his 25th goal of the season.
Ray Grant then saw his ambitious effort from distance flash just wide of the target, while at the other end Gourlay made a decent save to push away a shot by David Cox.
On 81 minutes, the icing was put on the cake as McStay got his second goal of the game. The midfielder found the bottom corner through a crowded penalty area, following a cross and knock-down by Goodwillie.
