PREVIEW: Clyde v Berwick Rangers

The competitive actions returns tomorrow as Clyde host Berwick Rangers in Ladbrokes League 2.

The two sides last met in August, on the opening day of the league season, when The Borderers secured a 3-1 home win in a match that saw a host of chances missed. Now, Berwick sit one place above The Bully Wee in the table but with an eight point gap.

For Clyde tomorrow, club captain Kevin Nicoll is expected to return to the squad and Danny Lennon had no fresh injury worries to report when he spoke to the official website this afternoon.

“We’re looking forward to getting back into it after a break,” the Clyde manager said. “The plus side of missing a couple of games was that it gave myself and the coaching staff more time to get to know the players and bed in what we’re trying to achieve. On the other side, a break can sometimes disrupt match sharpness, but we certainly haven’t seen any evidence of that in training.

“We go into the game unbeaten in the last four and we can build in that. We’ve stopped leaking goals and we’re defending better; the next layer to be added is a bit of quality and composure on the ball. The players are showing me that in training so they’ve got to have confidence in themselves and belief in their teammates to transfer it into game time.

“Berwick come into the match with some mixed results. They are the closest team above us in the table at the moment and it’s three valuable points that we are desperate to get. It has the makings of a good game so hopefully we can send the fans home happy.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the supporters, players, staff, directors and everyone associated with Clyde a very Merry Christmas. Everyone has been ever so welcoming and helpful since I came on board and I want to say a heartfelt thanks for that. I’m excited to be here and I have strong hopes and ambitions that, together, we can take the club back to where it should be.”
