Under-20s: Clyde 4-0 Albion Rovers
Clyde’s under-20s recorded their first win of the Development League West season on Sunday, when they hosted Albion Rovers at Broadwood.
Clyde started the game on the front foot, building on good performances in recent games, causing Rovers problems early on. It wasn’t long before the first chance of the game fell to striker Aaron Millar, whose shot was saved by the foot of the Rovers’ keeper. Albion had one chance in the first half which was from an individual mistake in giving the ball away cheaply, but it was dealt with by trialist goalkeeper, Matthew Craig.
The second half saw a good start for The Bully Wee again, pressing high up the pitch and a more energetic display saw the opening goal arrive, as Millar made the most of a mistake from a Rovers defender and managed to slot the ball past the ‘keeper. This gave more belief to Clyde and really take the game to Rovers; at same time playing some really good attacking football. It was soon 2-0 as Millar grabbed another goal, getting on the end of a good cross from a trialist.
In the last 20 minutes of the game, Pinio Dachnowicz came on and was key in the third Clyde goal, as great footwork saw him win a penalty which Millar scored to complete a well-earned hat-trick. A trialist striker then scored the fourth goal, with quick thinking from a free-kick allowing him to get through on goal and slot the ball into the net, to complete a comfortable victory overall.

Speaking to the official website, under-20 manager Tony McInally said:-
“I said a couple of games back that, although results weren’t going our way, myself and the coaching staff were happy with the recent performances and we’ve seen good progress. We can now start to see that transfer onto the pitch, which now we have to build on. The players have set a standard in training and in recent games and they have kept working hard, looking to raise their individual and collective standards higher all the time.
“This result should now give them good platform to build on, for their aim of pushing for a place in the first team.
“Aaron Millar scoring a hat-trick will stand out and he deserves great praise, as his attitude and application in training recently has been outstanding. He has also been starting for his loan club St Roch’s and played a key role in recent weeks, getting on the scoresheet for them as well.”
Ian Currie, who is assisting with coaching the under-20 side, added: “The team now has better organisation and understanding and the boys are working hard on and off the ball for each other. We are starting to see an improvement in the overall play and now results.”
