Clyde 1-4 Peterhead
The Bully Wee suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Peterhead at Broadwood this afternoon, in the Ladbrokes League 2.
David Gormley returned from injury to take a spot on the bench, as Jim Chapman kept faith with the same starting XI which defeated Keith last weekend.
The first chance of the game fell to the visitors from an early corner. Blair Currie was beaten by Rory McAllister’s header, but the ball was cleared on the line by a defender.
Not long after, David Goodwillie played through Smart Osadolor who hit a shot from a wide angle. Greg Fleming could only parry Osadolor’s effort, and Darren Ramsay slid in to open the scoring after eleven minutes.
Peterhead equalised just before the half hour mark when a cross from the left found Alan Smith in the centre of the box, and he slotted past Currie.
Goodwillie almost put Clyde back in the lead but his shot was saved by Fleming, and Currie then made a good stop from a Jamie Stevenson free-kick.
The Blue Toon scored twice in quick succession midway through the second half. McAllister got to the by-line and cut the ball back to Jack Leitch, who fizzed a shot into the back of the net.
A minute later Callum Home’s clearing header fell to Russell McLean around thirty-five yards from goal, and the Peterhead striker produced a sublime strike right into the top corner.
McAllister sealed the three points for his team eight minutes later when a low cross was parried into his path by Currie, and veteran striker made no mistake.
