PREVIEW: Elgin City v Clyde

The Bully Wee will make the long journey north to Elgin City tomorrow, as the new Ladbrokes League 2 season continues.

The Black and Whites will be keen to secure their first win of the campaign, with Clyde looking to get initial away points on the board following an opening day defeat at Berwick Rangers.

Jim Chapman will be without at least three players for the match at Borough Briggs. David Gormley and Scott Ferguson will be joined by Kevin Nicoll on the sidelines, with the club captain suffering from a minor hip complaint. Fellow defenders Jack Breslin and Martin McNiff will also face fitness tests tomorrow after picking up knocks in Tuesday night’s match against Stranraer.

Howwver, on loan Rangers defender Kyle Bradley returns to the squad.

Speaking to the official website this evening, the Clyde manager said:-

“Defence is an area we’ve said that we want to strengthen and being without players there due to injury can make us a bit more vulnerable at the moment. However we’ll go with what we’ve got and as always, any space for another player to come in is an opportunity for someone else in the squad.

“We are continuing to work hard on adding to the squad and that will continue right up until the end of the transfer window.

“Elgin is always a difficult place to get a result, but we’ve been competitive in every match so far and we’re expecting that to continue, hopefully with some more improvement as well. I thought we were very comfortable on Tuesday night until we conceded a penalty so there is plenty to build on from that.”
