Norrie Meets Steve in Barcelona

Clyde chairman Norrie Innes visited Barcelona last week and took the opportunity to get behind the scenes at one of the World’s biggest clubs – as well as meeting a former player of both Barca and The Bully Wee.

Norrie was invited to take in the Barcelona B squad’s training and pre-season matches and also spent time with former Clyde and Scotland player, Steve Archibald.

Following the private and relaxed meeting with Steve, Norrie said:-

“Steve acknowledges the important grounding and shaping he had at Clyde FC and this was reflected in his gritty and funny stories! After some Clyde chat, we went on to share our thoughts and ideas over many footballing matters.

“He is steeped in footballing success and this at the very top level within Europe – from Clyde, to Aberdeen, to Spurs and then going on to play for the greatest club in the World, Barcelona. He is enjoying life there and is held in such very high regard.”

Steve has kindly signed a Clyde home jersey, which will go forward for auction at the 2017 Sportsman’s Dinner, taking place in November at the award-winning A’Challtainn in BAaD.

The Barcelona B squad – likely containing many stars of the future – has also signed a Clyde away jersey. Norrie said: “This was very kindly gifted to the club by FCB for the auction in November and will no doubt raise more funds towards our player development.”
