UNDER-20s: Clyde 3-5 QoS

The Bully Wee’s under-20 side continued their SPFL Development League West campaign on Sunday and lost out to Queen of the South, following a high scoring match.

First team squad members, David Gormley and Scott Ferguson were given some extra game time by taking part and both got on the scoresheet – Gormley with a double.

Head coach Richard Fox spoke to the official website about the match: “From an attacking point of view, we created a lot of chances and I was really pleased with us going forward. However, defensively we made too many individual errors.

“After going ahead early on, we then ended up going behind after losing two quick goals and that was just a lack of concentration from the boys, so it’s something we need to take away from the match.

“David and Scott were both excellent in terms of their leadership and the advice that they offered to the boys. As we know it’s a very young team so there is a lot they can learn from experienced guys like that. They were fantastic and led by example.”

Richard was pleased that two squad members – Divine Shanganya and Ronan Sweeney – were included in the first team group that travelled to Berwick Rangers on Saturday, with Divine being awarded a slot on the bench.

“It’s going in the right direction overall,” he continued. “We could be winning every match at under-20 level at the moment, but that’s not the most important thing; it’s about getting the guys ready for the first team in the future.

“Divine was over the moon to the included on Saturday. He works incredibly hard and really wants it and he has already got the rewards for that, which is a great example to the rest of the boys. I want them all to keep pushing themselves and put pressure on themselves on and off the pitch, because I believe that we have a lot of talent in the squad.”

Next up for the youngsters is an away fixture against Greenock Morton on Monday night.
