Higgins Joins Community Team
Clyde first team player, Sean Higgins has recently joined the Community Foundation, initially as part of the Carbon Clyde team.
Community coaches are delivering an eco-friendly football programme in local primary schools, to P4-P6 children. Sean is delighted to be a part of the team and is enjoying sharing his playing experience in the local community. Sean, currently The Bully Wee’s joint top scorer, is also completing his SFA B License which recently brought him to Broadwood for a week long practical side to the course.
Project Manager, Karen Welsh said: “Sean brings the ‘wow’ factor to our team. It’s great to have a first team player working in the community and Sean has a great way with the children. Not only does he understand the importance of getting Clyde FC engaging with the local community, but he also grasps the underlying concept of the Carbon Clyde project. It’s a win-win for the Community Foundation and l am thrilled to welcome Sean to the team.”
Along with engaging with the children in the community, Sean has recently been on the SPFL Trust training for their Football Fans in Training programme. Tom Elliott, Community Development Manager comments, “FFIT is a fantastic programme that encourages men and women over the age of 35 who have become less active over the years to spend some time for themselves and enjoy some exercise along with healthy eating advice. I’m pleased to welcome Sean as part of the team.”
Sean added: “Clyde FC are a huge part of my life right now and l’m thrilled to be part of the Community Foundation, working with Tom and Karen. The Carbon Clyde project is helping Clyde FC reach into the local community and we have a great group of coaches helping to deliver many aspects right now.”
