New Signing: Chris Smith

Barry Ferguson has announced another addition to his squad this evening, as Chris Smith joins Clyde from Stirling Albion.

Smith, a 26-year-old defender, has agreed a one-year contract with the club.

Chris began his career as a youth at both Partick Thistle and Rangers, but made his senior debut after signing for Greenock Morton. Spells at Dumbarton, Ayr United and Falkirk followed, before he joined Stirling in 2013.

He went on to be a regular feature in The Binos’ first team in their subsequent League Two and League One campaigns, making over 60 appearances.

“Chris is a centre half who’s played at a good level throughout his career,” the Clyde manager said. “He’ll bring experience and a physical presence to our defence.

“We had earmarked him as someone we liked and as soon as I spoke to him I knew that he wanted to be part of what we’re doing. He’s a big signing to get over the line and I’m delighted to have him in the squad.

“I’ll have further news to announce over the weekend as we continue to build for the new season.”
