Linton and Campbell Join Clyde

The club is delighted to announce that Scott Linton and Archie Campbell have agreed to join Clyde after their Dumbarton contracts expire next month.

Linton is primarily a left-sided defender or wing back. At the relatively young age of 25, Scott will bring a lot of experience to Clyde, having featured in nearly 200 senior matches in his career to date.

A former Hibernian youngster, his first taste of first team action came with Cowdenbeath where he enjoyed a five-year spell. In 2003, Scott moved to Dumbarton and played a big part in successive Championship-level campaigns with The Sons.

Campbell, 24, began his career at Rangers but didn’t manage to break into the first team and signed for Greenock Morton in 2011. The forward went on to record an impressive strike rate of 24 goals from 46 starts for the Cappielow club, before moving to Dumbarton last summer.

During the 2014-15 season, Archie made 21 starting appearances for The Sons, scoring 3 goals.

He has also been capped for Scotland at both under-17 and under-19 level.

Clyde manager, Barry Ferguson said: “Scott and Archie are players that I’ve been interested in for a number of months and I’m delighted to get the deals over the line after a lot of hard work. It can be difficult to get guys to come down a level but they were both really keen to play for me and Clyde and that’s hugely important.

“Scott played in the majority of Dumbarton’s matches this season. He’s a wing back with a great left foot and he also brings a lot of experience to the dressing room.

“Archie will give us something totally different – lightning pace up front. He scored a lot of goals for Morton and then had an up and down year at Dumbarton, but he wasn’t always playing in his natural position.”

Both men will join The Bully Wee on one-year contracts.

News on further player additions will follow in the coming days as Barry continues to build his squad for the 2015-16 campaign.
