Daly Praises Team Character

Clyde striker Michael Daly spoke to the press following yesterday’s fine 4-0 win over Albion Rovers, which guaranteed the club a play-off slot.

The 28-year-old revealed that the players had been confident of a top four finish and that they enjoyed the atmosphere inside Broadwood:-

“There’s enough quality in the dressing and we’ve got the right attitude on the park, so we always thought we were going to do it.

“The fans were brilliant; they have stuck with us and got behind the team. They were patient when we had a couple of bad results which is important as we have some young boys in the side. It’s always better when the fans get behind you and everyone is in it together.”

Although The Bully Wee’s play-off opponents have still to be confirmed, the current standings would mean a clash with Annan Athletic – one of Daly’s former clubs:-

“If we do end up playing Annan, I know them well after being there last year and I know Jim Chapman is a determined person who will have his team up for the tie.”

Michael was asked about Jim Duffy and he was quick to praise the Clyde boss:-

“The gaffer has worked wonders at the club. This is my first season here and we’re in the play-offs but it’s been steady progress. He’s very open and honest and it’s a great achievment for him. He’s built a good dressing room with a good character and personalities. Along with ability, that’s the reason we’ve made the play-offs.”

Michael’s headed goal continued a good run of form for him personally and he explained the reasons for his improved second half of the season:-

“My daughter was born in January and I’ve felt great since then. I’m just enjoying my football and I feel like I’ve got an extra spring in my step. The gaffer also had a few words with me and I think my form has been good since the turn of the year.

“I always knew I could do better than I did before Christmas and long may it continue.”
