John Steps Down
John Taylor, Clyde’s longest serving director, is stepping down from the Board.
John has been appointed as Head of Football Administration and Company Secretary at SPFL club Dundee United and will commence his new role on Thursday 1st May.
The club is, of course, saddened to lose John’s skills and experience but appreciate that this is an excellent opportunity for him to work full-time in football. Everyone at Clyde wishes him every success within his new role.
Since his appointment to the Board in 1986, John has contributed greatly to the club, tirelessly applying himself to every given task with great integrity and a desire for excellence.
The club is delighted that John has agreed to continue to volunteer for the club in his spare time. From Thursday, his position at Dundee United will see him relinquish formal ties with The Bully Wee but he will continue his connection with the Clyde View matchday programme.
John’s remit as the Clyde FC CIC Company Secretary will now be undertaken by fellow club director Gordon Thomson. Gordon has represented the club at SFL/SPFL meetings in recent years and has already been working alongside John during a period of transition in preparation for taking on his new remit.
Clyde chairman John Alexander said: “Dundee United are gaining a top class professional of the Scottish game and it is an astute move on their part. We can only be positive for him as he heads to Tannadice, but nearly 30 years of experience, knowledge and a well developed art of diplomacy go with him. He will be sorely missed.”
