Legends Return to Clyde
To conclude a great weekend for the club, the inaugural Legends Match took place at Broadwood last night and was a huge success.
A tightly contested game ended with a final scoreline of 5-5, with numerous Clyde legends from different eras taking part. The teams were also superbly managed by Neil & Harry Hood and former Clyde and Scotland manager, Craig Brown.
Around 200 fans attended the event and enjoyed the sight of Pat Nevin striding forward, Pat Keogh leading the line and Jim Thomson marshalling his defence – to mention only a few of the ex-players that took to the field.
David Dalziel, who sponsored the event, presented Man of the Match awards to full back Craig McEwan and supporter Phil Caplan.
The event has already raised almost £3,000 for the player development fund.
Clyde director Bobby Gracey said, “I would like to thank everyone that contributed to this magnificent evening, including NLL & Cumbernauld Colts for assisting with stadium access.
“A special thanks go to our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including Angela & Rebecca Blyth, David Jack, Gordon Mason, Gordon Sydney, James Turnbull and not forgetting our kit manager Mags and physio Imran.
“It was great to have so many former players back at the club and I have no doubt they all had a great night and now feel very much part of the ‘Bully Wee Family.’ I hope that, following the success of this event, it can be added to our annual calendar.”
Pictures from the match are available to view and purchase via club photographer James Turnbull’s website. Proceeds raised will contribute to the final total.
