Community Bursary Scheme

Following its approval last year, Clyde FC has officially unveiled its Social Enterprise Initiative, via the Clyde FC Community Foundation. The scheme will be promoted in the coming weeks in local media and the volunteer action groups of both North & South Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire.

The Foundation has launched a bursary scheme to help local charities and community groups throughout the Clyde FC communities. It is inviting local organisations to apply for a share of a £2,000 fund, to support the invaluable work being carried out in the community.

Anyone in the these areas – from local football teams to youth and volunteer groups – is welcome to apply for funds, which can be used to support the development of the clubs and promote health and wellbeing in the community.

Gordon Nisbet, director of Clyde FC, said: “The establishment of the bursary scheme is designed to contribute towards helping the many worthwhile causes and groups in the local areas.”

As a result of Clyde’s successful lottery, The Bully Wee, Scotland’s first fully supporter owned club, were eager to delegate to the club’s charity an initiative that reverses the traditional role of the club as solely a beneficiary while also illustrating football’s ability to effect change for the greater good.

Gordon continued, “A proportion of the surplus of the lottery each year will be transferred to the Clyde FC Community Foundation, which will administer the Community Bursary Scheme to illustrate in a tangible way the club’s desire to benefit the community as a whole.

“The funding which we have made available this year will hopefully help groups in the local communities who would otherwise not be able to take on particular projects. We want to encourage as many people as possible to apply for this, as it is our aim to benefit as wide a variety of groups as possible.”

Anyone wishing to apply on behalf of a local charity or community group for a share of the community bursary should visit for further guidelines and criteria, to complete the necessary application form.

The closing date for applications is 30th June 2014.

The Clyde FC Community Foundation is a Registered Scottish Charity, number SC044165 and a Company Limited by Guarantee, number SC357936.
