Clyde 1-2 Queen’s Park
The Bully Wee suffered a hugely disappointing result at Broadwood today, as bottom side Queen’s Park produced a second half comeback to take all three points.
With Jamie Barclay and Nik Rajovic both injured, loan signing Joe McGovern was given a debut between the sticks. Michael Daly was also unavailable, following the birth of his daughter earlier in the day.
Clyde were the better side for most of the first half, albeit during a scrappy game. Brian McQueen saw his header cleared off the line and Stefan McCluskey came close with a shot from the edge of the box. It was McCluskey that eventually scored the opening goal after 25 minutes, when he latched onto a loose ball in the box and put a high shot past Lucas Birnstingl.
The visitors were limited to long range efforts in their attempt to respond, with McGovern comfortably dealing with anything that came his way.
However, after the break The Spiders looked a more hungry side and they soon equalised. A penalty was given against David Marsh for a foul in the box and Blair Spittal found the bottom corner of the net from the spot.
It was to get worse for The Bully Wee after 70 minutes when Thomas Collins took advantage of some sloppy defending to roll a shot in off the post from the edge of the box.
That left Clyde with an uphill battle to get back into the match and, with clear-cut chances at a minimum, Scott Ferguson (pictured) came closest to levelling the scores again when his volley was pushed away by Birnstingl.
