Winter 5-a-Side Tournament

Commercial director Gary Ballantyne spoke to the official website this evening to thank all the participants who had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday afternoon at Powerleague, Hamilton in the Clyde FC Winter Cup; the club’s first 5-a-side tournament.

12 teams eagerly battled their way through the two league section formats to the semi-final and final matches. The team who eventually emerged as overall winners were the aptly named ‘Clyde 1 Thistle 0’, captained by David Ashton against Gary’s ‘C’mon Fitba Team’ by a scoreline of 3-2.

The Consolation Cup was won by ‘AnyoneButAshton’, championed by Andrew Clark against Duncan MacClymont’s ‘Skye Wanderers’ with a 2-0 result.

Gary said: “A huge thanks goes to David MacPherson who refereed throughout the day due to the cancellation of one of the official refs. He now has a new found respect for the men in the middle!

“I’d also like to thank Amanda, Ciara and Hayley who kept on top of the scores as they emerged and a special mention goes to Stefan McCluskey, who came along to watch the games and present the trophies and medals afterwards.”

A Spring Cup tournament has been earmarked for April and is likely to be held in Glasgow.
