Clyde 0 v 1 Ross County

Clyde’s 2008 ALBA Challenge Cup campaign came to an end today with a defeat at home to Ross County.

The match enjoyed a lively start and Dave McKay had an early chance to capitalise on a mistake and give Clyde the lead, but his touch was heavy and he couldn’t get a shot away.

County took the lead on 25 minutes when a scramble from a corner eventually saw the ball being cleared at the line, with the referee and his assistant deciding that Craig had scored.

The Bully Wee’s task was made even harder when Neil McGregor was shown a second yellow card for a deliberate handball after a foul on him that was not spotted by either official.

With a numerical advantage the visitors largely controlled the rest of the match and Peter Cherrie had to produce some good saves to stop the gap widening. McKay had a strong shout for a penalty (above) turned away towards the close of play but there was to be no equaliser.
