St. Johnstone 2 v 3 Clyde

A goal from Ricky Waddell nine minutes from time gave Clyde a fine victory against St. Johnstone in Perth today.

Alan Lowing made his debut at right back and the match started brilliantly for The Bully Wee when Dave McKay carried the ball half the length of the pitch and finished well.

Scott Gemmill met a Ricky Waddell corner (below) to make it 0-2 on 37 minutes but a scrappy goal gave Saints hope before the half-time break.

Pat Clarke had a chance to double the advantage again before the home side equalised through a Holmes header.

Clyde rallied though and Clarke was fouled on the edge of the box, allowing Waddell to lash home Alan Trouten’s lay-off to the delight of the away support.

There were some nervy moments at the other end but in the final minutes Trouten nearly found Gemmill but the cross made it’s way to Clarke, whose shot was clawed away from the line by Alan Main.
