A Winning Start for Alan
New loan signing from Rangers Alan Lowing made a surprise debut for The Bully Wee yesterday after completing the move just hours before kick-off.
The young defender put in a good display at right-back and he spoke to the press after the match:-
“It was great to come in and play in the first win of the season and hopefully I can help push Clyde up the table now.
“I only found out about the move on Friday so I was surprised but delighted to start the game. I wasn’t expecting it at all but Jimmy Sinclair, the Head of Youth at Rangers, told me that Clyde were interested and everything got rushed through so I could play. I signed this morning – I had to go to Murray Park to get things sorted and then straight onto Broadwood. I was glad to play, it gave me the chance to see what the First Division is like and hopefully I will improve with each match.
“We did well to battle back after they equalised and I think our third goal knocked the stuffing out of them.
“A couple of the lads used to play with Rangers – Billy Gibson and “Broony” – so they helped me through the match. It was a bit different to the reserve matches I am used to which can be a bit slower paced. You don’t get any time on the ball and you have to win headers and compete all the time. That’s why I am here to learn though.
“I’m getting to the age where I need to be playing first team football so I was happy to leave Rangers for a spell and show what I can do. I know other players have had loan spells in the First Division and gone on to do well so that is my aim; come here for six months, do the best I can and take it from there.
“I was at Rangers when John Brown was there and I enjoyed working with him then. I knew that he knew what I could do and had confidence in me so that helped me make my decision to come to Clyde.”
