Hamilton 3 v 1 Clyde
Clyde exited the 2008 Co-operative Insurance Cup tonight, after a spirited but unsuccessful display at New Douglas Park.
The hosts took the lead through a James Grady header but just two minutes later Ruari MacLennan set up Pat Clarke who finished well off the post.
As the first half progressed, the Bully Wee looked more and more threatening and Gibson and Gemmill both came close before the break.
Hamilton were more dominant in the second period but Clyde were coping well until the sending off of Michael Ohnesorge for two bookings, which made things more difficult.
A long-range effort by Thomas slithered under Peter Cherrie and into the net with ten minutes to go; the Clyde ‘keeper disappointed not to keep the swerving shot out after a good performance to that point.
Waddell, Brown and McKay all came close to levelling the scores before an injury time penalty by Stevenson clinched the victory for Accies.
