Who Will Lead the Team Out?

The Bully Wee’s season begins tomorrow with a Challenge Cup First Round tie against Annan Athletic at Broadwood. It’s a historic and special day for the borders club, as they begin life as a full member of the Scottish league.

Ricky Waddell and Marc McCusker continue to be out recovering from injuries, but both are progressing well. Willie McLaren will also miss out due to illness and Ruari MacLennan and Dave McKay face a race to be fit.

New signings Michael Ohnesorge and Scott Gemmill go straight into contention for a starting place.

John Brown revealed that he will name his captain just before kick-off tomorrow and spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk ahead of the match:-

“Pre-season has gone well and we’re looking forward to it. The players are itching to get the season underway.

“Annan will be on a high and we have to be ready for that. Their players will be looking forward to playing on the platform so we’ll need to be on our guard. It’s down to the boys to go out there, work hard and enjoy it and if they do that then I’ll be happy.

“It’s a home tie and the pitch is perfect. The players enjoyed playing in front of a big crowd on Tuesday but it’s about how they respond in front of 1000-1500 tomorrow. That’s where we’re looking for the consistency from them.”
