Clyde 2 v 0 Annan Athletic
Clyde’s 2008-09 campaign got off to a winning start at Broadwood today against a stubborn Annan outfit.
The Bully Wee, led by newly appointed team captain Stuart Kettlewell, dominated the first half but couldn’t break the visitors down. Pat Clarke missed the best chance when he found some space in the box but blazed his shot over the bar.
Alan Trouten eventually made the breakthrough from the penalty spot, just after the hour mark. Trouten himself had been brought down in the box after a clever pass by Billy Gibson. Within a minute, around 75 travelling Annan fans then saw their side’s only real attempt on goal, but Hutton did well to save with his legs.
Trouten made it two and sealed the win after 74 minutes, with a fine chipped finished following great work by substitute Willie McLaren.
