Dusan’s Debut
Just under 250 Clyde fans made the journey south to Dumfries yesterday and all present were surely impressed by the performance of Dusan Bestvina at right back.
The Slovak, initially signed on amatuer terms, also pleased Colin Hendry with his debut as the Clyde Manager told the media after the match:-
“Dusan has been training with us and I liked the look of the lad. He’s a very hungry player and wants to make his mark in Scottish football.
“He’s brought his family across and is looking forward to the challenge. He speaks very little English but I’m sure he understands what I’m saying to him even if he doesn’t claim to!
“I was delighted with his performance, he was excellent. Coming from that part of Europe he is very comfortable on the ball. It was a hard week trying to get him signed in time for the match and hopefully this reflects on some of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”
Colin also revealed that Dusan’s introduction allowed him to change the shape of the team and move Mikey McGowan into a more advanced role in midfield:-
“I want to play with a back four. A back three gives you far too many problems, which was fairly well highlighted against Partick Thistle. In order to win a game of football and be solid I think we need to set up in this way.”
