Col At The Double!

Colin Hendry spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this evening and confirmed that he has made a double raid across the border today.

Central defender Dan Kirkup, 19, from Carlisle United and 20-year-old Joe Cardle – a left or right sided winger from Port Vale – have both joined on ‘window to window’ cross-border deals.

Colin commented, “Both players are highly thought of at their respective clubs and have a bright future in the game. Joe can play on either wing and will give us options. People may view me as just a big centre half that used to punt the ball into Row Z but I know how I want football to be played and that is by keeping it on the deck and passing it well.

“Joe will certainly help us to create chances in the final third while Danny is a 6’4”, right-sided defender who will add some strength and height to the team and we need that at the moment. I’m really pleased to get these guys in they’ve both played at a good level down south and we will benefit from that.

“The transfer window closes tomorrow night although we can still get loan deals in and sign out of contract players after Friday. However, I’m still working to get others in tomorrow and will do my best to achieve that as Saturday’s game against Dundee will be a big challenge for us.”
