Work In Progress
After an extremely busy week for Colin Hendry both at work and at home, he spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk this evening to update fans on the progress being made.
First news that a deal is being concluded to give The Bully Wee permanent training facilities at the first class Little Kerse complex in Grangemouth. Pre-season training has initially taken place at Strathclyde University owned grounds and Colin was keen to place his thanks to them publicly for their help at short notice.
On the training ground, work has continued with SFA fitness guru Rab Kielty as well as having the balls out every day. On the ongoing hunt to boost the squad, Colin said:-
“We’re short of numbers but we’ll fix that in the next couple of weeks, including utilising any options I can from England. As well as that we’ve got a number of players on trial who have been released by SPL clubs and the likes.
“We’ve also brought in some of the Youth Development players to give them an insight into what pre-season is like for a professional footballer.”
In terms of matches, closed door games begin this week, with details to follow on the Official Website. Colin continued:-
“I haven’t seen the players play in a game yet but I have watched plenty of DVDs and we’re coming into the closed door matches now. As I’ve said before it’s about adding to what we have already got here.
“I’m looking at the forward line and currently discussing a new contract with Gary Arbuckle – who we hope will stay – as well as some other options. I still want to bring an experienced player to be my Assistant and I’m hoping to conclude this very soon.”
