Working Hard!
The international flags are flying at Broadwood today as Friday’s U21 match between Scotland and Belarus draws closer but don’t be fooled that these are the only preparations going on at Broadwood this week.
Rumours of the players earning an extended break over next week or so are greatly exaggerated as Joe Miller confirmed to the website. “It will be more or less business as usual. Before the last international the players got a period of rest so now is the time to keep on working.”
Tom Brighton will be representing Scotland on Friday night and the rest of the squad will also get some competitive action. “We’re hoping to arrange a couple of bounce games very shortly. This is to keep our sharpness and to help the players on the fringes of the first team an opportunity to impress and maintain their match fitness. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my boots on again this week but as I’ve said before I’m more than happy to be kept off the pitch if it means the youngsters are performing well.”
Joe continued: “It’s been a difficult start to the season. As well as experiencing two enforced breaks for international games, the fixture list also gave us a number of games away from Broadwood. It will be good therefore to get back into a rhythm after this weekend. It is vital that we carry on the good work shown against Airdrie United.”
