Treble 20! Three More Signings For Clyde
A trio of twenty year olds, Craig McKeown, Michael McGowan and Roddy Hunter signed for Clyde last night. All three players came to prominence at Broadwood during the week’s trial and are delighted to get the opportunity of competing for regular first team football in the First Division.
Craig McKeown (pictured left) and Michael McGowan are defenders formerly with Dunfermline Athletic and Dundee respectively. McGowan was released by the Dens Park club on 14 January 2005, while the group of signings is completed by the Condorrat-based midfielder Roddy Hunter who was formerly a youth player with Clydebank and Ayr United (2002-03)
Craig McKeown joined Dunfermline Athletic from Aberdeen youth side Fortmartin United.on 6 August 2003, having impressed the then Dunfermline coach John Ritchie whilst playing for Scotland schoolboys against the Republic of Ireland.
Thereafter he was a regular for the Pars’ U19s, then appeared for the U21s and subsequently for the Reserves. Craig made his SPL debut on 12 March 2005 when, watched by a crowd of 59,000, he took the field at Celtic Park as a Pars substitiute five minutes from the end. It was his only first team appearance for Dunfermline but in January 2005 he made four appearances for Berwick Rangers during a one month loan spell with the Borderers.
This trio of signings has again justified the value of Graham Robert’s unique initiative in inviting players to attend a trial at Broadwood. The latest signings now mean that so far five players have been identified through this process, four of whom who have had previous SPL club experience.
