Contract Talks

Billy Reid assured the website that he is doing everything he can to keep goal hero John Potter at Clyde. Club captain Potter is out of contract in January and the Club has made him an offer to stay. “We don’t want to lose him. He is a massive influence on and off the park. It has been a fantastic personal achievement for John in the way he has bounced back from serious injury. It would be a huge blow to lose him both personally to me and to the club but if the worst happens then obviously I’ll deal with it at the time”.

“The financial situation behind the scenes has prevented us from moving quicker and now two or three top First Division clubs are interested,” Billy continued. “I want him to stay but I also appreciate that John has a young family to consider as well”.

“I can assure fans that we will do everything we can to keep a player of his quality at the club but this matter is again a symptom of the financial constraints that we are working in at present”.

Fans who celebrated John’s marvellous goal on Saturday can play their part either by supporting the Bully Wee Fund or by continuing to vocally demonstrate their appreciation of John’s role, as Clyde fight to maintain our fantastic start to the season in the challenging months to come.
