Airdrie United 3 V 1 Clyde
There was to be no repeat of Clyde’s CIS Cup victory against Airdrie United as the Bully Wee suffered their heaviest league defeat of the season today at New Broomfield.
A quick first half double by Coyle and Roberts in the fourteenth and sixteenth minutes respectively always made it an uphill battle for the visitors. Alan Gow made it three after the break before Alex Walker hit a late consolation.
So Clyde drop to second in the table and will have a chance to make amends at Broadwood next week against Hamilton Accies. Full match report and reaction will appear on the website soon.
Elsewhere Falkirk gained top spot with a 2-0 win away at Stark’s Park against Raith Rovers; St Mirren quashed Thistle’s hopes with a stunning 3-0 victory at Firhill; a late Scott Thomson goal earned the points for Accies and the points were shared at Perth between St Johnstone and Ross County as they drew 1-1.
