Reid All About Airdrie United

Billy Reid gave his thoughts to the website’s Cammy Macdonald immediately after Saturday’s match at New Broomfield.

“I thought Airdrie United got on top early, scored two goals and in all honesty I thought the best team won. I have said to my players that it’s how we do over a season and we will have blips along the way. We are by no means invincible and up till today we have not leaked goals but today we have given away cheap goals. It was just a bad day at the office.

“I am not going to criticise my players as they have been fantastic for me this season.

I think the turning point in the second half was Mark Gilhaney’s chance. I thought it was a stick on and he knows he should have scored and had it gone in it might have given us a chance to get back into the game. But they broke away and put the ball in the back of the net.

“I think the Clyde supporters will be going away tonight mystified by some of the decisions of the official in the middle. I think everyone saw it and I don’t think we got much of a rub of the green from the official today, but that’s not an excuse. I have been in and spoken to him but I have to watch what I say, although I am sure that the Clyde supporters will be going away aggrieved tonight. I have not criticised any referee this season but it seemed as though every time our players went near one of theirs he awarded a foul.

“I have to stress that I don’t think that is why we lost the game today as the best team won but I don’t think we were given a fair crack of the whip.

“We changed to go three up front as we were not getting anywhere and someone had to come off to make the change at the back. Unfortunately that was Gary Bollan and he was right to be disappointed. He is a proud man and a good professional but he will have to take that on the chin as those are the decisions I have to make as the manager sometimes.
