Gordon Dalziel Takes Over At Stark’S Park
Clyde’s opponents on Saturday, bottom club Raith Rovers, have moved to stop the slide at Stark’s Park by naming Gordon Dalziel as the new Rovers manager with effect from today.
The position of previous manager Claude Anelka, who in recent days has been acting as Director of Football, remains to be clarified, but as at today he has no football-related post at the Kirkcaldy club.
Gordon Dalziel (pictured scoring of one of Raith’s goals in the 1994 Scottish League Cup triumph) is under no illusions about the difficult task that faces him. Rovers have taken just one point from nine games.
At a press conference earlier today he acknowledged the ambition of his predecessor, but agreed things had not worked out as had been planned. The former Ayr United manager made no promises with regard to the team’s immediate results but will use a Fife Cup tie tonight in Cowdenbeath to prepare for his new team’s visit to Broadwood.
Although time between now and Saturday limits the number of changes in personnel he can make, it is likely that Clyde will face a more committed Raith side than perhaps would have been the case before today’s appointment.
