Clyde 2 V 1 Partick Thistle
Clyde started this season’s Bell’s League campaign with a morale-boosting 2-1 win over relegated Partick Thistle at Broadwood this afternoon.
Billy Reid’s re-shaped team took the lead in the twenty-seventh minute when Ian Harty, despite Thistle claims for offside, latched on to a through ball from new signing Darren Sheridan and drove the ball home.
It became two just on half-time when Jimmy Gibson emphatically fired home from an Ian Harty cross.
In the sixty-fifth minute the visitors were reduced to ten men when Andy Dow picked up a second yellow card but they ensured a tense finish when, with ten minutes left, Juan Escales latched on to a pass back, from an otherwise very impressive John Potter, to reduce the margin to one.
Before the end Jimmy Gibson also picked up a second yellow card but the Bully Wee Clyde held on to take all three points from the Clyde fans’ favourite fixture.
Alan Henderson’s detailed match report is now available, as is the Man of the Match vote.
