Reid All About The Thistle Match
Billy Reid gave his post-match verdict to the website’s Cammy Macdonald. Delighted with the result, the Manager reminds everyone of the task ahead and is quick to praise those who made a teling contribution yesterday.
“Every one knows the job which has to be done here. We have a long way to go but it is always nice to win the first derby game and get the three points. But we take one step at a time, regroup and hopefully win again next week. We still have five or six guys in the dressing room who are winners from last season and it’s up to me to bring in guys of that calibre and guys who are winners.
“Aaron Wilford is a handful for defenders but he is still a young kid. We saw him last week against Livingston and he did enough to earn a contract, and today he won all his headers and I think he will be a good asset to our squad.
“I thought Darren Sheridan was man of the match. He won tackles, slowed the game down when needed and made some great passes in midfield. He has been around and showed he has a wily old head and I am delighted to get him on board because I think he will do a good job for us.
“I told John Potter to forget his mistake. The important thing was to win the game. I am delighted John is back after a very long lay off and he looked fit and strong today. He will be a big player for me this season.
“Our ambitions have to be to get as many points on the board as possible. This is going to be a difficult league and once you have done that you can maybe start to aim a bit higher
