The Bully Wee suffered a disappointing defeat at Ochilview this afternoon, as a late goal punished the team for missed chances earlier in the match.

Barry Ferguson handed debuts to loan signings Craig Halkett, Euan Smith and Aidan McIlduff, with Andy Gibson also making his first start for the club after coming off the bench against Berwick.

The first half was dominated by Clyde and there were three occasions in particular when the opening goal should have been recorded. Smith had two good chances with his head and Scott McManus was given a clear sight of goal following a Michael Daly flick on, but the target was missed each time.

The second half continued to see chances being created, but with the home side also threatening at times.

McManus saw two shots from outside the box saved within moments of each other, while Scott Durie’s cutback caused a scramble in the box which was eventually cleared away from danger after a goal looked certain.

At the other end, Maxwell Wright flashed a low shot past the post and David McKenna should have done better after a mistake by Halkett.

With ten minutes to go, a long ball caught out the Clyde defence and also got the better of Jamie Barclay, allowing Jay Doyle to capitalise and find the net from close range.

That left The Bully Wee with limited time to change the outcome and substitute Kevin Watt missed the best chance of the closing minutes, putting a low shot wide of the post.

Just before the final whistle, Ryan Frances was shown a second yellow card to complete a frustrating afternoon.
