Recap

Clyde’s 100% home league record came to an end today, as East Stirling left Broadwood with a single-goal victory.

Jim Duffy made two changes to the team that lost at Elgin last time out, with Ryan MacBeth and Gavin Brown added to the starting line-up.

The opening half of the match produced little to report on in terms of action at either goal, with the visitors having the best chance when Chris Townsley’s header just missed the target. For Clyde, Scott Ferguson’s free-kick was also off target after the winger had done well to draw a foul at the edge of the box.

Early in the second half, The Shire took the lead through Max Wright when he reacted quickly to lift the ball into the roof of the net after Jamie Barclay had pushed away a header from close range.

It took a wonderful goal to level the match after 76 minutes. John Sweeney was presented with the ball around 25 yards from goal and he blasted a shot off the underside of the bar, which the assistant referee was in no doubt had bounced over the line to make it 1-1.

However, East Stirling replied almost immediately. A chain of sloppy defending by Clyde led to the ball breaking in front of Wright in the box and he placed it past a hesitant Barclay and into the net for his second goal of the match.

The Bully Wee enjoyed a strong period of pressure in the closing minutes of the contest and Pat Scullion had a great chance to score after good work by McCluskey and MacDonald, but the visitors held on to secure a win and also their place at the top of League Two.
