Clyde were looking to build on their impressive victory against Airdrie by finally getting off the mark at home but the Bully Wee would have to do so minus Pat Clarke who failed his late fitness test, meaning Gary McSwegan would start up front.

In what was a strange first half, Clyde probably had the upper hand, but Queens keeper Bell only had one save to make from McKay when the winger shot from a tight angle, when possibly a cross may well have been the better option.

McKay’s other noticeable contribution was to see yellow for a nasty looking lunge on Tom Parrat, just before the half-time mark. The colour of the card could well have been different in another referee’s pocket.

Queens on the other hand looked intent to punt high balls into the box and see if Jim Thomson would win them. Again home Keeper Peter Cherrie would be a virtual spectator.

Billy Gibson went off with a nasty ankle injury that he appeared to get from an accidental challenge from a Clyde corner.

The second half started brightly enough when an audacious Emslie effort was in the end easily saved by Bell. The same player had a shot moments later after neat build up play between Lowing and McSwegan.

The match turned for the worse in 54 minutes and there was no great surprise when it came from Gary Arbuckle. Simmons robbed the tired Gemmil and fed Dobbie on the left wing. The striker easily turned inside sub Brown and drilled across goal. Cherrie could only weakly palm into the path of Arbuckle, and the former Clyde man trundled home from 16 yards with no real effort displayed to block or keep out the shot.

4 minutes later and it was game over. Simmons was again involved when his long cross field pass was met on the corner of the 18 yard box by the towering figure of Mikey McGowan, whose header across goal was met by Dobbie whose shot went in despite Cherrie getting a good hand to the ball.

Clyde had came behind in all of their home league games this season, but with an obvious lack of guile, especially up front there was nothing to cheer this day.
