Clyde’s KDM Evolution Trophy league phase campaign started in defeat against Celtic B after playing the vast majority of the match with ten men.

Darren Young rotated his squad and made six changes, but one of those, Brian Kinnear, pulled out in the warm-up and Jay Hogarth was promoted back to the starting XI.

The Bully Wee’s night got off to a bad start and they were left with an uphill battle after Tommy Robson saw red in the 10th minute for a foul on Callum Osmand when the Celtic striker was through on goal.

Osmand opened the scoring just two minutes later after getting in behind the Clyde defence and slotting beyond Hogarth.

The young Hoops then doubled their advantage when Sean McArdle rifled a low drive into the bottom corner.

It was 3-0 a couple of minutes before the break through a half-volley from Samuel Isiguzo.

Clyde made a tactical change at the interval and came out looking much better in the second period. They reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute when Kyle Connell knocked the ball down to Robbie Leitch, who took a touch on the turn and smashed a half-volley into the top corner from the edge of the box.

The Bully Wee should have made it all to play for when a cross found Scott Williamson’s feet a few yards from goal but he didn’t get a proper connection and the ball bounced into the arms of Aidan Rice.

Kyle Fleming also saw a late shot go just over the bar as Clyde were made to pay for a poor first half.
