The Bully Wee lost out at Galabank today, following a poor match that was played on a very heavy pitch.

Paul Hay and Pat Scullion were added to the Clyde line-up, as John Sweeney (suspended) and Kris Irvine dropped out.

It was clear in the early stages of the match that good football was going to be at a premium, with a boggy pitch making it difficult for both sets of players to get the ball down and play.

The home side enjoyed the majority of the territory in the first half, but rarely tested David Crawford. Peter Watson forced him into a save, with a back post header. At the other end, John Neill came closest for Clyde before half-time when he managed to find space at the edge of the box and put a low shot just wide of the post.

The Bully Wee started the second half well and Michael Oliver forced home ‘keeper Mitchell into a good save, from his shot from just outside the box.

However, with chances still few and far between, one mistake at the back was to cost Clyde dearly. Brian McQueen slipped when trying to defend a low cross from the right wing, which handed an easy chance to Sean O’Connor and he fired the ball past Crawford from close range.

There was little from Clyde thereafter to suggest that an equaliser may come, with a late free-kick by Paul Hay landing on the roof of the net.
