Sam was a highly-rated youth player at Motherwell at the outset of his career, featuring in several first-team matchday squads before a serious knee injury hampered his development. Following a short loan spell at Annan, he left The Steelmen in 2024.

He then spent a year and a half in the Lowland League with East Stirlingshire, winning player of the year accolades in his final season. That was enough to persuade Darren Young to recruit him on a two-year deal last summer, and Campbell adapted well to the step up in his first season with Clyde, racking up over 30 appearances.

Sam remains under contract at The Bully Wee until the summer of 2027.
