Lewis came through the youth ranks at Pollok United, and turned out for a few West of Scotland sides before spending a season at Albion Rovers, one which featured a loan to Lowland League side Caledonian Braves.

Most of his career since has been spent playing under his father, ex-Airdrie left-back Paul, at Benburb. Similarly left-sided, Lovering can operate in defence or further forward; his performances and goalscoring exploits for The Bens led to a trial with Partick Thistle, during which he netted against The Bully Wee in the Glasgow Cup in 2022. Spells at Beith and Troon have followed; last season, he earned promotion, won silverware and was top scorer with the latter.

Darren Young headed off strong rival interest to make Lewis his second summer addition, agreeing a one-year deal running to summer 2027.
