James started off his career at Ayr United and, following a couple of loan spells at local junior sides, moved into senior football with Stranraer in 2019. Spells at Edinburgh City and Dumbarton – bookending a return to Stair Park – followed, as he racked up over 150 appearances in the lower leagues.

The versatile attacking midfielder was swiftly snapped up by Darren Young following his departure from Dumbarton last summer, and immediately endeared himself to Clyde fans by scoring nine goals in the first half of his debut season. Having suffered a broken foot bone in February, he sadly missed the remainder of the campaign through injury.

‘Jinky’ remains under contract with The Bully Wee until the summer of 2027.
